Under Armour Scores a Hole-in-One with Jordan Spieth

Under Armour’s winning streak continues, as its bet on 21-year-old golf phenom Jordan Spieth has paid off following his U.S. Open victory. Spieth, whose original four-year sponsorship deal with the company was scrapped, signed a new contract earlier this year.

“I signed with [Under Amour] when I first turned professional … we ripped the contract up after a couple of years and created a 10-year extension agreement, where they really expected me to win majors,” he said.

Spieth added, “There are definitely opportunities and bonus structures to where it’s beneficial for both of us, and it’s cool to see the rise that Under Armour has had in the past couple of years, as well as what I’ve been doing and seeing them kind of relate to each other.”

When asked who his biggest rival is, the golfer told FBN’s Trish Regan, “I’m not sure… Rory McIlroy is number one in the world, I’m number two… it’s certainly been a lifelong goal of mine in my golf career to become number one in the world at one point,” Spieth said. “I’ve closed the gap significantly this last week.”

As for the sport itself, Spieth said he is enjoying the competitive nature of the game.

“Golf is in great hands, it’s a very, very tough sport right now to compete in. I’m just happy to be one of the guys that are trying to climb to the top,” he said.
