General Motors (GM) CEO Mary Barra said customers and investors should be encouraged by GM’s new direction when it comes to safety and quality.

In an interview with FBN’s Jo Ling Kent at the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit, Barra said GM is “setting the new standard for safety in the industry.”

“We’re going to do the right thing for customers, so if you also look, a lot of the new actions we’ve been taking recently are very small and very targeted. If we understand there’s an issue … we’re going to take action,” Barra said.

Barra also expressed confidence in the new cars and trucks GM is bringing to market.

“These are the best vehicles we’ve had in my career at General Motors and they’re being externally recognized as well, as industry best,” Barra said.
