In an exclusive interview with FBN’s Liz Claman, Musk called the $2.6 billion contract a “vital step” in SpaceX’s progress.
“It’s about taking astronauts to the Space Station and eliminating the dependency on Russia for transporting U.S. astronauts … For SpaceX, it’s the next step in the technology we’re developing,” said Musk.
Boeing (BA) received the lion’s share of the NASA contract, nabbing $4.2 billion, but Musk expressed his confidence in SpaceX’s technology.
“Domestically we have everyone ganging up against us: Boeing, Lockheed and then Blue Origin, Jeff Bezos’ company,” said Musk. He called their banding together a huge compliment to SpaceX.
