You Can Now Order Domino’s Through Your Car

Hungry Ford drivers on the go may have a new option to satisfy their growling stomach, as long as they are in the mood for pizza.

Domino’s Pizza is teaming up with its neighboring Detroit-based automaker, unveiling new technology that allows customers to order pizza from their cars. The innovation will be debuted at the International CES in Las Vegas Wednesday.

In mid-2014, Domino’s customers who have a Pizza Profile on the company’s mobile app, and have the Ford (NYSE:F) SYNC in-car connectivity system, will be able to activate their “Easy Order” options with voice activation, Domino’s announced in a release.

“This is, no question, one of the coolest in a long list of recent technology innovations for Domino’s,” said Patrick Doyle, Domino’s Pizza president and CEO, says in a statement. “To be able to partner with a brand like Ford, with its terrific SYNC technology, to offer yet another way to bring our ordering app experience to life makes it all the better.”

The technology is enabled by Ford SYNC’s AppLink feature, which enables drivers to use selected apps on connected smartphones and tablets with the SYNC button on their steering wheels. The feature is available on more than one million Ford vehicles, according the company.

“We’re thrilled to add Domino’s to the ever-expanding lineup of mobile apps Ford drivers can use hands-free,” said Julius Marchwicki, global product manager for Ford SYNC AppLink, in a release. “Americans love pizza, and now they can have one ready for carryout or delivery when they are on their way home or heading to a gathering with friends.”
