4 to Watch: A Look at Elon Musk’s Hyperloop

1. Space Travel on Earth?

Think traveling from New York to Los Angeles in just 45 minutes sounds like a dream? FBN’s Jo Ling Kent reports it could become a possibility, thanks to the Hyperloop Transportation System. Ability Composites owner Frank Roundy shares details on the lightweight material he’s manufacturing for the Hyperloop’s capsules that would allow people to travel at speeds previously only seen in space.

2. Climb Into a High-Speed Travel Tube

ET3 Daryl Oster says his company is ready to take what they’ve learned from prototypes, mockups and working models and put it together in a 3-mile demo, showcasing all of the elements necessary to demonstrate travel at 375 miles per hours. And in addition to moving at super-fast speeds, Oster says the capsule is also more comfortable than other forms of transportation, providing passengers with a bump-free ride and plenty of leg room.

3. Hyperloop Hype

Elon Musk says the Hyperloop will be less expensive than travel by plane, and ET3 CEO Daryl Oster says the Hyperloop will use electric-turbo compressors to propel the capsule, levitating it on a cushion of air. And down the line, Oster says it could even be possible to drive normal cars into the tube to move at super-fast speeds.

4. The Future of Travel

Jo Ling Kent reports that Elon Musk says the Hyperloop will be able to carry sealed capsules containing 28 passengers, and that individual capsules will be able to depart every two minutes from Los Angeles or San Francisco. The capacity predicted for the transportation system is 840 passengers per hour.
