McAfee to Buy Firewall Maker Stonesoft for $389M in Cash

Intel’s (NASDAQ:INTC) cyber security wing McAfee inked a deal on Monday to buy Finnish next-generation firewall maker Stonesoft for $389 million in cash.

The deal, which comes as cyber security continues to be pushed to the forefront of corporate strategy, is expected to help further enhance McAfee’s network security pipeline, particularly in next-generation firewall and cloud-based security technologies.

“These solutions anticipate emerging customer needs in a continually evolving threat landscape," McAfee President Michael DeCesare said in a statement.

McAfee intends to integrate Stonesoft's offerings with other McAfee products, leveraging McAfee's cloud-based Global Threat Intelligence service and integrating Stonesoft’s 6,500 customers.
