Small Business Spotlight: Montauk Brewing Company, Inc., @montauk_brewing

Who: Joe Sullivan, 27, president

What: A local brewing company with a gallery tap room

When: Opened June 2012

Where: Montauk, NY

How:  Sullivan, along with lifelong friends Vaughn Cutillo, vice president, and Eric Moss, brewmaster, started out brewing with a kit in their basement as a hobby.

“We were experimenting with different beers, and throwing parties with our friends,” he said. “We had them test the beer and give us feedback. We liked brewing, we liked beer, and figured it was time to build a brewery in Montauk.”

Quote from the owner: “I think we compliment other local brewers in the area, in that we are helping to spread out along Long Island,” Sullivan said. “We are also the youngest local brewers in the area.”
