Business Owner: Listen to Your Inner-Gut

We’re highlighting small businesses from around the country as nominated by you, our readers. If your favorite small business is using Twitter to communicate with customers, let us know about it @fbsmallbiz with the hashtag #mysbc, and it may be featured as an upcoming Small Business of the Day.

Small Business of the Day: Sabrina, Inc.

Who: Sabrina Velandry, 38, @SabrinaInc

What: Media agency and solutions for businesses

When:  July 2008

How: Velandry previously worked managing the studio of an interior home photographer in Boston before having her first child in 2006. Upon having her second child in 2008, she said she knew it was time to start her own company to have more freedom and the ability to be her own boss.

"I had a vision for an agency that would do a lot of what I was doing for the photographer-being the liason between print media, architects, designers and advertising," Velandry said.

She signed up for twitter on a whim and saw a lot of tweeting and blogging about mobile apps taking magazines onto the iPad. She started her company and has since added entertainment and celebrity magazines to her resume, in addition to interior design.

Where: Portsmouth, N.H.

Biggest lesson learned from a customer: "To trust your gut," she said. "I learned to listen to my inner gut-there's a lot to be said about intuition used in business."
