Small Business of the Day: Monkey Suit Vintage

Who: Matthew and Marie McCoanahan, both 31, @MonkeyVintage

What: Vintage clothes for men and women

When: 2008

How: Matthew was previously employed in social work, but always had a passion for clothes, as did his wife, Marie, who  was working as a realtor while in her 20s. The couple began buying used clothing and entire estates and put items up on eBay. Once they had enough pieces, they opened their own online vintage store.

"We provide very high-end stuff—we have the niche down to what people are looking for as far as quality and style," Matthew said. "People aren't out looking for 70s disco suits anymore. They want that 'Mad Men' style, tweed suits and thin lapels."

Monkey Suit Vintage also sells wedding attire.

Where: Nashville, Tenn

In their own words: "We follow trends and have cultivated [clothing] from all over the world," Marie said.
