Small Business of the Day: ASAP Multimedia Productions

Who: Gerard Ascolese, 51, @asapmedia

What: A production company that provides TV, internet and mobile application services for clients

When: 1987

How: After a career in TV and radio with major networks, Ascolese launched ASAP Multimedia Productions in 1987. The business attracted the interest of Fortune 500 companies, such as Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ), Pfizer (NYSE:PFE), AT&T (NYSE:T) and Samsung when it first started. But Ascolese decided to implemented a small business approach, seeing a need for consultation and media production among smaller firms. ASAP Multimedia also offers public relations and social marketing services for its clients. He is in the process of launching Big Apps TV, which will focus on mobile video content.

“There is a thirst for media among small businesses. We provide Madison Avenue quality for a Jersey Shore price,” Ascolese said.

In his own words: “A lot of these small businesses are hurt by government regulations, and I’ve seen a stagnation of these businesses. We can help them reach out and be creative. We help bring in business for our clients.”
