Tweet Business of the Day: Libre Clothing

Who: Co-Founder Mandy Eckman, 24, @LibreClothing

What: A clothing line tailored to the needs of chemotherapy and dialysis patients during treatment.

Where: Columbus, Ohio

When: The business plan was created in August of 2008, sales began in April 2010.

How: Eckman and the other three company co-founders met when they were college seniors during an entrepreneurship course at Miami University. One of the business partners pitched the plan for Libre, as her mom was receiving dialysis treatments.

"We all realized that we also had family members going through the same kind of treatments," Eckman said.

From there, Libre was born. Today, the company sells the clothes on its Web site, as well as medical retail stores and cancer centers.

Libre Clothing donates 5% of the proceeds from purchases to one of their partner charity organizations.

In her own words: "We met, formed our team and realized we could help if we took our plan to the next level. We could help millions of people—it was a no brainer," she said.
