General Dynamics Awarded $876M Gov't Deal

General Dynamics Information Technology, a unit of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), has been awarded up to $876 million over the duration of the next seven years to support the relocation of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security headquarters. The task was ordered through the U.S. General Services Administrations Alliant Contract.

The new Department of Homeland Security DHS headquarters will be at the historic St. Elizabeths Hospital Campus, located in southeast Washington, D.C. General Dynamics will support the move through state-of-the-art information-technology that meets the administrative, as well as physical-safety, requirements of the new headquarters.

"The General Dynamics team has unmatched experience and capabilities in providing comprehensive IT infrastructure on this scale, and our goal is to ensure that DHS' plans and vision for the new campus will be achieved on time and on budget. This experience will allow the company to construct an infrastructure for the DHS that is green, modern, efficient, redundant, scalable, configurable and cost-effective," said Dan Johnson, president of General Dynamics Information Technology.

General Dynamics will also facilitate continuous testing to ensure maintenance of the new IT enterprise.

"In partnership with GSA, General Dynamics will provide a state-of-the art IT infrastructure that meets the Department of Homeland Security's requirements today, tomorrow and into the future," said Johnson.

DHS will consolidate twenty-two component agencies and key leadership at the new St. Elizabeths Hospital Campus headquarters. Approximately 14,000 employees from the Washington, D.C. area will move onto the campus in the next seven years.
