Help for Last-Minute Tax Filers

USA-TAXES

Welcome to OnSale at FOXBusiness, where we look at cool deals and insane bargains.

Tax Tips

Jackson Hewitt (NYSE:JTX) says it will keep its office doors open a little longer as people scramble to get their taxes ready on time. And, the company’s kiosks at Walmart will also offer extended morning, evening, and weekend hours to assist people with getting their finances in order before the April 18, 2011 deadline.

Last-minute filers who are in a big hurry should remember to check out the e-file option offered by the IRS. It gives an instant receipt confirmation, too, so you can know your return has indeed been received before the deadline. For more information about e-filing, visit IRS.gov.

And one more take on taxes: the Walmart Foundation teamed up with United Way, One Economy, and National Disability Institute to create the Real Economic Impact Tour to help taxpayers who earned less than $57,000 in 2010. Through MyFreeTaxes.com, qualifying taxpayers can file their state and federal taxes for free, and can get free, in-person tax preparation guidance at local tax help centers or via the campaign’s National Tour vans, which have been popping up nationwide this tax season.

MyFreeTaxes.com also has a free app for iPhone and Android that offers people a quick way to find out whether they qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC.) Want to calculate your EITC benefits? Go to http://bit.ly/mytaxbackapp.

That’s instant access to more than 17,000 titles, including new releases and big studio films. Among the greats: Black Swan, The Fighter, and The Hereafter.

A 24-hour rental costs between $3.99 and $5.99, depending on quality level. Right now, you can try Vudu for free. Visit the site and activate a new account. Your first movie credit is on the house.
