Smartphones Go 3D: Sprint Announces 3D HTC Evo Coming This Summer

Sprint (NYSE:S) on Tuesday announced an upcoming 3D smartphone to be available this summer, using a QHD 3D display.But don't worry about needing to wear 3D glasses all the time to use the phone. The upcoming HTC EVO 3D will be glasses-free and will also be able to capture video in 3D, Sprint said in a press release.The 4G-speed handheld, according to Sprint, will run Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android "Gingerbread" OS and features a 4.3-inch display with a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor by Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM).The smartphone will also feature a front-facing video chat camera (in addition to the 3D HD 5 Megapixel camera on the back), 3G and 4G mobile hotspot capability, 4GB of storage space, and 1GB RAM, according to the release.Further, Sprint said, the EVO 3D will have Blockbuster On Demand pre-installed, which will include movies in 3D, as well as non-3D titles, to be viewed on the device.Sprint did not release pricing for the device, but said it would announce that information closer to launch time.
