Lassally talked shop and shared some secrets of her success with FOXBusiness.com.

FOXBusiness.com: What sparked the idea that became TrueMomConfessions.com?

Lassally: My son Owen, who was sick at the time, had thrown up all over the carpet. I left the throw up on the carpet for the dog to eat it. I told the story to a friend, and she said it was resourceful.

I then thought that if I had a place to [share these types of stories], other women would do the same.

Lassally: Know what you want, and why. If you just want to start a blog to express yourself, don’t spend a lot of money … just go do it. If you want to make money, be really clear about a business model. It is hard to make money in this environment.

FOXBusiness.com: What is one of the best lessons you’ve learned from your blog?

Lassally: Professionally it has been: don’t start a hobby and expect it to be a business just because it is popular.

FOXBusiness.com: Which shared story stays with you the most?

Lassally: Some of the recent stories, which have been about the site helping other women. It has been great to see that other woman use the site to help them get through the day-to-day of motherhood.

FOXBusiness.com: How have you handled making some of your personal stories public?

Lassally: I don’t make all of the personal stories public, but as long as nobody gets hurt and my kids don’t get hurt, I feel very comfortable telling stories that might entertain other mothers out there.

FOXBusiness.com: What do you want readers to take away from in your book?

Lassally: Motherhood is filled with the heartfelt and the hilarious. I would like mothers to read the book to know they are not alone in all these stages.
