White House Opposes Balanced-Budget Amendment

The White House said on Wednesday it opposed House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner's proposal for a balanced-budget amendment.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said an amendment to the Constitution is not needed to cut the budget deficit and said that would amount to ducking responsibility.
