Senate Will Approve 2-Week Spending Bill, Reid Says

The Senate will vote this week to extend government funding for two weeks in order to avoid a shutdown as lawmakers try to hammer out a budget compromise, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Tuesday.

The Republican-controlled House of Representatives is expected to pass a similar measure within hours.
