Rudy Giuliani: President Obama Only Half-Right on Ferguson
If former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani had been in Ferguson Monday night following the grand jury decision not to indict Darren Wilson in the death of Michael Brown, he says he would have handled the situation very differently.
In an interview with FBN’s Maria Bartiromo, Giuliani praised the jurors’ decision. But he saved criticism for President Obama, as well as Missouri law enforcement officials for their decisions Monday evening.
“[Obama is] absolutely right that people should be peaceful; absolutely right that people have a right to peaceful protest,” Giuliani said.
On the other hand, Giuliani said that Obama should have discussed the issues of black-on-black crime, and the necessity of teaching communities how to deal with police officers.
“What was this man doing charging a police officer?” Giuliani asked.
Giuliani also critiqued the decision to announce the grand jury’s verdict late Monday evening, rather than saving the news for the following morning.
“I think had it been done in the daytime, it would have been easier on the police to detect what was going on,” Giuliani said.
