Hillary Clinton: American Wages Need to Be Higher

Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton revisited her pledge to help the middle class, with her plan to alleviate wage stagnation. These are some of the points she made Monday at the New School in New York City.

During her remarks, which lasted for about 40 minutes, she  previewed some of her plans on what she would do to improve the economy and fight for the middle class should she become the next President of the United States.

“You should be able to get ahead, and when you get ahead, America gets ahead, noted Clinton. But over the past several decades, that bargain has eroded…our job is to make it strong again,” she said.

Clinton is expected to be moving more to "the left," but how long or how far will apparently be dependent on who she is campaigning to and/or for.

Clinton certainly got her jabs in on the Republicans and how they have run things in the past.

“For 35 years, the Republicans have argued that if we give more wealth to those at the top, by cutting their taxes and letting big corporations write their own rules, it will trickle down, it will trickle down to everyone else,” stated Clinton.

“Every time they have a chance to try that approach, “it explodes the national debt, concentrates wealth even more, and does practically nothing to help hard-working Americans,” said the former Secretary of State.

She is certainly distancing herself from Senator Bernie Sanders from Vermont and specifically mentioned some on “the right,” including Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, and Scott Walker, by name. Separately, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker is expected to officially announce his run for the White House Monday evening.

Clinton also stated that she would provide more specifics of her economic policy over the coming weeks including fairer profit sharing, and better ways for students to refinance and pay down their student loans.

More details on her proposed economic policies may come as early as Thursday during a campaign event in New Hampshire.
