Boehner: Won't Back Expiration of Tax Cuts

House Speaker John Boehner said Thursday that he would not back a deal to avert an imminent default that would allow temporary income tax cuts on the wealthy to expire.

``I've never voted to raise taxes and I don't intend to,'' Boehner told a news conference. He said that allowing existing tax cuts to expire would amount to a tax increase.
