Boehner to Democrats: Stop Pushing Tax Hikes

House Speaker John Boehner Thursday said Democrats must abandon any tax increases if negotiations on deficit reduction and an increase in the debt limit are to continue.

Boehner, speaking to reporters, said no tax hike would pass the Republican-controlled House.

Boehner, a Republican, also called on President Barack Obama to get engaged in negotiations now that House Majority Leader Eric Cantor has declared an impasse in the talks led by Vice President Joe Biden.
