Varney: If Democrats kill fracking, they’ll lose presidential election

In swing states, there are so many fracking jobs

Democrats will lose key swing states in November and as a result, lose the election, FOX Business’ Stuart Varney argued in his latest “My Take.”

“Their problem is fracking. OK, that sounds a little far-fetched. You lose a presidential election because of a drilling technique? Yes, that’s what I’m saying,” Varney said.

Democratic front-runners Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren would all either severely restrict fracking or ban it outright in energy-producing swing states like Ohio, Pennsylvania and Michigan, according to Varney. He added that there are 700,000 well-paying fracking jobs in these states and that he cannot see people in these states casting their ballot for Democrats who would kill these jobs.

“When push comes to shove, voters surely prefer the here and now of a well-paid job to the future doom and gloom of the climate brigade. The Democrats are asking white working-class people to abandon their prosperity. I just don’t see it,” Varney argued.

Families across the nation have saved money on their home-heating bills, he suggested. Fracking has driven down the price of energy and Americans do not want to give that up, he added.

Gasoline, too, is cheap because drillers have produced enough oil to cause a glut. If the drillers get crippled, Varney argued, prices will go up.

“Since when have people voted for job cuts and higher prices? There are 200,000 oil and gas workers in Colorado, 200,000 in Florida, 320,000 in Pennsylvania, 400,000 in Ohio and Michigan combined. That’s a million jobs in politically very important states,” Varney said.

Varney concluded by repeating his prediction that if the Democrats kill fracking and American energy independence, they will lose November’s election.
