Varney rips CNN's Don Lemon for mocking Trump supporters

'Another priceless example of arrogance and disdain for ordinary people'

CNN’s Don Lemon led a panel on Saturday that mocked President Trump and his supporters with comments reminiscent of Hillary Clinton’s “Deplorables” speech, FOX Business’ Stuart Varney argued in his latest “My Take.”

“They thought it was funny to refer to [Trump supporters] as illiterate ‘credulous Boomer rubes,’” Varney said.

Lemon’s panelist insulted half the American population, causing Lemon to dissolve into “peals of laughter,” according to Varney.

“They’re so smart, aren’t they? And so eager to show their contempt for the 60 million Americans who voted for Donald Trump,” he said.

Varney added that Lemon and his panelists have not learned a thing from Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign. He cited Clinton’s speech —which he argued helped her lose the election — in which she characterized many of Trump's supporters as belonging to a “basket of deplorables.”

“For the Trump campaign, Hillary’s insults and Lemon’s mockery are manna from heaven. Lemon’s giggling fit is another priceless example of arrogance and disdain for ordinary people. They’re actually laughing at you,” Varney said.

Having grown up in class-conscious Britain, Varney argued he knows what it is like to be looked down upon by his “betters.”

“I didn’t like it then and I don’t like it now. And neither do you, so let’s vote,” he concluded.
