Wynn touts economic benefits of proposed Everett casino, gently chides opponents

Las Vegas casino mogul Steve Wynn told a gathering of more than 2,000 Boston-area real estate developers and other professionals he is confident his planned casino in Everett will became a major economic engine for the region.

Wynn, the chairman and chief executive of Wynn Resorts, was the featured speaker Thursday at Colliers International's annual presentation on real estate trends in Boston and Massachusetts.

The Boston Globe (http://bit.ly/14HQ1Wa ) reports that Wynn spent most of his 20-minute speech reminiscing about his parents' Revere roots, and promoting his plans to build a $1.75 billion casino.

He also gently chided those trying to slow the project, including Boston Mayor Martin Walsh.

Wynn says his casino will create 10,000 to 15,000 direct and indirect jobs and generate $50 million a month in state revenue.
