Witness in theater shooting trial says orange-haired man attracted attention at gun range
A witness in the trial of Colorado theater gunman James Holmes says a man with fiery orange hair like Holmes' was an odd sight when he showed up at a gun range before the shootings.
Gun range volunteer Theodore Maples Jr. testified Monday. He didn't say who the man was, but the hair and firearms matched Holmes'.
Maples said his wife spoke to the man, but the judge didn't allow him to provide details because the defense objected.
Holmes is charged with killing 12 people and injuring 70 in the July 2012 attack. His attorneys acknowledge he was the shooter but say he was mentally ill. He has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
Prosecutors say Holmes was sane. They say he should be convicted and executed.
