Whirlpool says it will buy coin-operated laundry equipment maker American Dryer

Whirlpool will buy the coin-operated laundry equipment maker American Dryer Corp. for an undisclosed sum, the company said Monday.

The maker of Maytag, KitchenAid, and other brands said American Dryer will become part of its commercial laundry business. American Dryer is based in Fall River, Massachusetts, and it has about 230 employees.

Whirlpool Corp. expects to complete the acquisition in early July. Whirlpool is based in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
