Werner CEO Greg Werner To Retire
Werner Enterprises Inc. said on Friday Chief Executive Greg Werner will retire, after eight years in the position, and 40 years at the company. As a result, the trucking company said it elected C.L. Werner, the company's founder and chairman of the board, as its CEO. Greg Werner will remain on the board of directors as he transitions out of the day-to-day responsibilities. C.L. Werner said he plans to groom Chief Operating Officer Derek Leathers for an even larger role in the company. The stock, which was still inactive in premarket trade, has slumped 15% year to date, while the S&P 500 has lost 3.5%.
