Wawa approved to sell beer at Chadds Ford store, needs green light from Liquor Control Board

Wawa has passed the first hurdle in a bid to sell beer at one suburban Philadelphia location.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports (http://bit.ly/1IM8iTA ) the Concord Township Board of Supervisors has approved Wawa's request to sell beer at its store on Naamans Creek Road in Chadds Ford.

Wawa still needs approval from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board before the store's shelves can be stocked with suds.

A spokeswoman for the LCB couldn't provide a timeline for a decision from the state.

Wawa has stated beer sales would be limited to Chadds Ford for the time being, but the company "may look to expand the offering."

To comply with regulations, the Chadds Ford location would need to create a separate restaurant space measuring at least 400 square feet.
