Washington, D.C. Subway System To Shut For 24 Hours, Reports Say
WASHINGTON – The Washington, D.C. metro system will shut for 24 hours to make emergency checks, according to published reports. The shutdown will take place on Wednesday. A local NBC affiliate says that as many as 1,200 pieces of equipment will need to be checked, following a cable fire early Monday. A press conference is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Eastern.
