Urban Outfitters: Third-quarter Negative Sales Trend Has Continued

Urban Outfitters Inc. , the parent of Anthropologie and its namesake chain, said the negative third-quarter same-store sales trend it first reported in early September has continued in the quarter to date. Because of lower-than-expected sales, the company, which also owns the Free People chain, said it could hurt its gross profit margin more than in the first half and dent its third-quarter profit. Urban Outfitters, which has seen its stock decline 6.9% this year on weakness at its namesake label, was little changed in after hours.
