United Way chapter won't stage event at Trump golf course

A New Jersey chapter of the United Way has pulled an event from one of President Donald Trump's golf courses amid concerns raised after a deadly neo-Nazi rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The United Way of Monmouth and Ocean Counties had planned to hold its leadership reception at Trump National Golf Course in Colts Neck on Sept. 28. The Asbury Park Press reports the group is now seeking a new site.

The chapter's chief executive, Timothy Hearne, says the decision to move the event came as a result of the "overall reaction" to what happened in Virginia. He didn't specifically cite Trump's comments that "both sides" were to blame.

A number of charities have recently pulled events from Mar-a-Lago in West Palm Beach, Florida, after Trump's response to the violence.
