United Technologies Corp. said Tuesday it had net income of $1.48 billion, or $1.74 a share, in the third quarter, up from $1.36 billion, or $1.61 a share, in the year-earlier period. Adjusted per-share earnings came to $1.76, ahead of the FactSet consensus of $1.66. Sales rose to $14.4 billion from $13.8 billion, also ahead of the FactSet consensus of $14.3 billion. The company said it is now raising the low end of its full-year adjusted EPS range by 10 cents to $6.33 to $6.60 a share. It expects sales to be flat for the year. Shares were not yet active premarket, but are up 3.6% in the year so far, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average has gained 4.6%.
