Union members to block traffic, get arrested to protest Atlantic City contract giveback demand

Casino workers plan to block traffic on an Atlantic City, New Jersey highway Wednesday night to protest demands for contract givebacks being made to keep the Trump Taj Mahal open.

Local 54 of the Unite-HERE union plans to have about 30 of its members arrested in what it calls an act of civil disobedience along the Atlantic City Expressway.

Union president Bob McDevitt blames Trump Entertainment Resorts and billionaire Carl Icahn for demanding employees give up their pensions and health insurance.

Icahn says he invested $100 million to save the Tropicana from bankruptcy four years ago, but says he had nothing to do with running the Taj Mahal aside from owning the company's debt.

Icahn says he'd reluctantly invest another $100 million in return for union concessions and government aid.
