U.S. Treasury Postpones 2-year Note Auction Due To Debt-ceiling Constraints

The Treasury Department announced Thursday it will postpone the 2-year note auction originally set for next Tuesday. In a statement, the department said there was a risk that Treasury would not be able to settle the 2-year note on Monday, Nov. 2. The 5-year and 7-year note auctions, also set for next week, will proceed as scheduled. Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew last week urged Congress to raise the debt ceiling by Nov. 3 or the government would be left with only a $30 billion cushion to pay all of its bills.
