U.S. Stocks Struggle To Hold Gains; Jobs Report Stronger Than Expected

U.S. stocks struggled to push higher following a strong January jobs report, but the main indexes are still set to book solid weekly gains. Official employment data released ahead of the opening bell showed the U.S. economy added 257,000 jobs last month, outstripping the consensus estimate, while December and November numbers were revised upward sharply. The news sent the dollar rallying, while Treasurys sold off, with 10-year yields jumping to 1.89%. The S&P 500 was up a point at 2,064. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was flat at 17,883. The Nasdaq Composite was barely changed at 4,762.
