U.S. Stocks Rise For Second Session As Oil Rally Boosts Energy Stocks
U.S. stocks rose Tuesday for a second session, as a surge in oil prices fueled a rally in the battered energy sector, helping push all three benchmarks higher. The S&P energy sector was the best performer on the index, up 2.85%, followed by financials, up 2.37%, and health care, up 1.32%. The S&P 500 gained 21.47 points, or 1.06%, to 2,043, with all 10 of its main sectors closing higher. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 156.41 points, or 0.9%, to 17,524. Both the S&P and the Dow industrials were in negative territory for the year. The Nasdaq Composite rose 43.13 points, or 0.87%, to 4,995.
