U.S. Stocks Rise As Oil Prices Rally

U.S. stocks opened higher on Tuesday, with the Dow industrials posting three-digit gains after the opening bell, as a rally in oil prices helped push the main indexes higher. The energy sector was leading the S&P 500 after the opening bell, up 2.26%. A headline reading on inflation, released before the opening bell, was viewed by investors as solid enough to keep the Federal Reserve on track to raise interest rates at the end of its two-day meeting on Wednesday. The S&P 500 rose 22 points or 1.1% to 2,044. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 168 points or 0.96% to 17,538. The Nasdaq Composite added 46 points or 0.94%, to 4,9998.
