U.S. Stocks Rally After Fed Hints December Rate Hike Possible

U.S. stocks ended higher on Wednesday after the Federal Reserve announced it would keep interest rates unchanged at near zero, but also signaled that a rate increase is still on the table "at its next meeting" in December. The main index initially dipped into negative territory, but bounced back to rally into the close. The S&P 500 rose 24.46 points, or 1.2%, to 2,090.35. The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 198.09 points, or 1.1%, to 17,779.52. The Nasdaq Composite advanced 65.55 points, or 1.3%, to 5,095.69.
