U.S. Stocks Open Slightly Lower, Eye Solid Weekly Gains
U.S. stocks opened marginally lower but the main indexes were on track finish with sizable gains for the holiday-shortened week. Trading on Wall Street is expected to be subdued as U.S. stock exchanges will close earlier than usual, at 1 p.m. Eastern Time. All three main benchmark were set to book gains of more than 2% for the week. The S&P 500 opened less than a point lower at 2,063 The Dow Jones Industrial Average was off by 10 points, or 0.1%, to 17,591. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite began the day up 2 points or 0.1%, at 5,048.
