U.S. Stocks Open Lower After Stronger CPI Data

U.S. stocks opened slightly weaker on Friday after a stronger-than-expected CPI report. The main indexes were on track to post modest weekly gains. The S&P 500 opened 2 points, or 0.1%, lower at 2,128.93, retreating from the record set on Thursday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 17 points, or 0.1% to 18,266. The Nasdaq Composite began the session up 3 points at 5,094.09, trading above its previous record close.
