U.S. Stocks Open Higher; S&P 500 Hits Intraday Record
U.S. stocks opened higher Friday, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average was on track early to notch another record close. The Dow industrials opened 0.26% higher at 18,073, while the S&P 500 hit a new intraday record of opened 0.19% higher at 2,088. The Dow recorded its 37th record close of the year during Wednesday's holiday-shortened session, after closing above 18,000 for the first time ever on Tuesday. The S&P 500 finished Wednesday's session down less than a point, snapping a five-session winning streak after closing at a record Tuesday. All 10 S&P sectors were higher, led by energy plays. All but three of the Dow's 30 components traded higher.
