U.S. Stocks Open Higher, On Track For Weekly Gains
NEW YORK – The U.S. stock market opened slightly higher on Friday and the indexes looked set to book weekly gains. The reassurance from the Federal Reserve on Wednesday that it will take a slow and steady approach on raising rates sparked a rally on Wall Street for two sessions, during which the indexes booked their best two-day gains in three years. The S&P 500 opened 3 points, or 0.1%, higher at 2,064. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 25 points, or 0.1%, to 17,805 at the open. The Nasdaq Composite began the day flat at 4,747.
