U.S. Stocks Open Higher; Nasdaq In Record Territory
U.S. stocks opened mostly higher on Friday and were on track to book weekly gains. The Nasdaq Composite was trading in record territory after recording a record close on Thursday for the first time in 15 years. The tech-heavy index opened up 31 points, or 0.6%, at 5,088. Friday's gains were fueled by a rally in the technology sector following better-than-expected earnings from companies such as Amazon.com and Microsoft. The S&P 500 opened 2 points, or 0.1%, higher at 2,115. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 19 points, or 0.1%, to 18,042.
