U.S. Stocks Open Higher Amid Continued Slide In Oil

U.S. stocks opened slightly higher on Tuesday with indexes trying to recover from the worst selloff in three months, but a continuing slide in oil prices and flight into safe assets such as government bonds is likely to keep gains in check. 10-year Treasurys rallied, pushing the yield 5 basis points to 1.98%, underlying nervousness among investors. The S&P 500 opened 4 points or 0.2% higher at 2,025.34. The Dow Jones Industrial Average opened up 40 points, or 0.2% at 17,543. The Nasdaq Composite began the day with a gain of 12 points, or 0.2% at 4,664.
