U.S. Stocks End Sharply Higher As Oil Rebounds

U.S. stocks jumped Tuesday, with the Dow industrials posting triple-digit gains, as a surge in oil prices helped push all three benchmarks higher. Meanwhile, shares of tech companies Alphabet Inc. and Amazon.com rose sharply, hitting all-time highs. The S&P information-technology sector was the best performer on the index, up 1.3%, followed by healthcare, up 1.2%. The S&P 500 gained 21.86 points, or 1%, to 2,078, with all 10 of its main sectors closing higher. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 192.71 points, or 1.1%, to 17,720. The S&P moved Tuesday into positive territory for the year, up 0.9%, while the Dow industrials were in negative territory, down 0.6%. The Nasdaq Composite rose 66.95 points, or 1.3%, to 5,107.
