U.S. Stocks End Lower Amid Deluge Of Earnings

U.S. stocks closed lower Thursday, weighed down by a selloff in defensive sectors such as real estate following a sharp rise in bond yields. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note rose to 1.84%, highest since June 1, according to FactSet. Investors sifted through a deluge of mixed earnings results. The S&P 500 closed 6.39 points, or 0.3%, lower at 2,133.04. The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 29.65 points, or 0.2%, to 18,169.68. The Nasdaq Composite ended the session down 34.29 points, or 0.7%, at 5,215.97.
