U.S. Stocks Eke Out Modest Gains; Nasdaq Hits Record

U.S. stocks ended Tuesday's choppy session slightly higher, though modest gains propelled the Nasdaq Composite and Russell 2000 to close at records. The Nasdaq Composite gained 6.12 points, or 0.1% to 5,160.09, closing at a record level for the second consecutive session. The Russell 2000 gained 2.86 points, or 0.2%, to 1,295.27, its all-time high. The S&P 500 eked out a gain of 1.41 points, or 0.1%, to settle at 2,124.27. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 24.76 points, or 0.1%, to 18,144.54.
