U.S. Stocks Close Slightly Higher Ahead Of Central Bank Meeting Outcomes
U.S. stocks closed higher Tuesday ahead of outcomes of meetings from the Federal Reserve and the Bank of Japan and as oil prices ticked higher. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 9.79 points, or less than 0.1%, to close at 18,129.96, led by shares of McDonald's Corp. . The S&P 500 index advanced 0.64 points to finish at 2,139.76, led by gains in the health-care and consumer-staples sectors. The Nasdaq Composite index gained 6.33 points, or 0.1%, to close at 5,241.35. Oil for October delivery settled up 0.3% at $43.44 a barrel.
