U.S. Stocks Close Near Session Lows On Fed, Falling Commodities

U.S. stocks closed near session lows Thursday as Fed speakers telegraphed a December rate hike and commodity prices fell, pressuring the energy and materials sectors. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 254.15 points, or 1.4%, to 17,448.07. The S&P 500 Index dropped 29.03 points, or 1.4%, to close at 2,045.97, putting the index in the red for the year to date. The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 61.94 points, or 1.2%, to close at 5,005.08.
