U.S. Steel's Illinois Plant Idling Could Affect Up To 2,000 Workers
U.S. Steel Corp. shares slipped in the extended session Tuesday after the steelmaker said up to 2,000 workers could be affected by a temporary idling of its Granite City, Ill.-based operations. U.S. Steel shares declined 1% to $11.68. The company said it is examining a consolidation of its North American flat-rolled steel operations given depressed steel prices and challenging market conditions.
